Australian officials to represent at IWBF U-25 World Championships

The IWBF women’s Under-25 Wheelchair Basketball World Championships, which will feature the Australian Devils, will also see four officials represent Australia.
Held in Thailand between May 23-28, the third edition of the tournament has seen Don Perriman appointed as Chairman of the Tournament Technical Committee, Lisa Chaffey as a classifier, Matt Wells as lead referee supervisor/instructor and Helen Rosenberg named as a tournament referee. One of the most experienced people in wheelchair basketball in this country, Perriman has been involved in the sport since the 1980's. Having participated as a coach and referee, Perriman has gone on to serve on the IWBF Executive Council from 1998-2016 as Chair of Classification and since 2015, he has held the position of Secretary General of IWBF Asia Oceania. Chaffey is a former Australian Glider who won a silver medal at the 2004 Paralympics and two World Championship bronze medals. Since retiring as a player in 2005, Chaffey has trained as a basketball classifier and is now an IWBF international technical official who was previously appointed to the 2011 Under-25 women's World Championships in Canada.
An IWBF referee since 2011, Rosenberg has previous officiated at numerous events within the Asia Oceania zone as well as the Under-25 women's World Championships in 2015, the Under-23 men's World Championships in 2017 and last year's men's and women's IWBF World Championships in Germany. Rounding out the Australian representatives, Wells followed a 15-year career as an IWBF referee by holding positions as an international instructor since 2011, IWBF Asia Oceania technical officer since 2015 and as a member of the IWBF Executive Council since 2018. In addition, the Australian Devils will soon name their team for the tournament as they aim to back up silver-medal winning performances from 2011 and 2015.
