Basketball Australia has wrapped up the inaugural 3x3 Championships in Ballarat, delivered as a two-day event alongside the 2026 Foot Locker Under-20 and Ivor Burge National Championships, which are set to conclude tomorrow.
Three teams were crowned champions across three divisions, with the Under-23 men’s winners also securing qualification to the Shibuya Challenger in Tokyo on 18–19 April 2026.
2026 CHAMPIONS
Under-17 Women: Swish Sisters
Under-17 Men: HoopSchoolAU
Under-23 Men: Hoopwithem
The next generation of 3x3 athletes were recognised by leaders of the national program, with awards presented by Australian women’s Gangurrus Head Coach Damon Lowery and Assistant Coach Hannah Lowe, alongside Gangurrus athlete and Paris 2024 Olympian Lauren Mansfield and FIBA Asia Cup champion Dillon Stith.
Staged across 30–31 January at Selkirk Stadium, the new standalone event brought Australia’s leading Under-17 and Under-23 athletes together for the first time in a dedicated national 3x3 Championships environment.
The event marked the formal introduction of 3x3 as an official national pathway event for the Australian Gangurrus program. The Championships will now be used by Basketball Australia’s High Performance team for talent identification, while also connecting athletes to the global FIBA 3x3 rankings system.
The international opportunity provides a direct link between Australia’s domestic 3x3 competition and the global circuit, reinforcing the Championships as a clear progression point for athletes moving through the national system.
Basketball Australia thanks the referees, score-table officials and volunteers who supported the delivery of the very first 3x3 Championships.
